SpaceX deploys new satellites weeks after up to 40 others had fallen out of orbit

SpaceX has launched 46 additional satellites less than three weeks after up to 40 satellites dropped out of orbit immediately after launch.

During a launch from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on Monday, SpaceX launched 46 additional Starlink satellites into orbit.

After being blasted by a geomagnetic storm earlier this month, SpaceX warned that up to 40 of its satellites were expected to reenter Earth's atmosphere.

However, the next day, a geomagnetic storm struck. The atmospheric density where the satellites are installed increased during these storms.

With the rapid change in conditions, SpaceX’s Starlink team put the satellites into safe mode, helping them to “take cover from the storm.”

Customers all throughout the world utilise Starlink satellites to get high-speed internet. SpaceX now has around 2,000 satellites in orbit, the first of which was launched in 2019.
