Apple has unveiled a new fifth-generation iPad Air with an M1 processor, 5G connectivity, and a variety of new colours.

The fifth-generation iPad Air, released at Apple's "Peek Performance" event on Tuesday, sports an Apple Silicon M1 chipset

The new device, according to Apple, is twice as fast as the fastest competition — and twice as fast as the best-selling Windows laptop in the same price bracket.

In terms of connectivity, the latest iPad Air model includes 5G, eSIM compatibility, and Wi-Fi 6. It comes in both cellular and non-cellular versions.

A new 12MP ultra-wide front camera and compatibility for Apple's Center Stage are also included in the fifth-generation iPad Air.

Support for the second-generation Apple Pencil is also included, as well as an updated USB-C connector that enables for data transfers twice as fast as the previous iteration.
